On October 15th, 2023, an important milestone was reached in the journey of the World Education Policy (WEP). The consortium was officially launched on a global scale in India, during an international Early Education Conference that brought together over 300 educators and academicians from around the world. The launch event served as a platform to introduce WEP’s mission, goals, and strategies to a diverse audience of education professionals. It provided an opportunity for participants to engage in meaningful discussions, share insights, and contribute to the collective effort of transforming education accessibility for all. The choice of India as the launch location was deliberate, as the country has been at the forefront of addressing educational challenges and implementing innovative solutions. By launching WEP in India, the initiative aimed to highlight the importance of early education and the need for inclusive and equitable learning opportunities from the very beginning of a child’s educational journey.
Our most important goals for Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) by 2030 are:
1. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. 2. Strengthen education policies and systems to support sustainable development goals. 3. Achieve universal primary and secondary education for all boys and girls. 4. Ensure equal access to affordable technical, vocational, and higher education for all 5. Eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal access for all. 6. Improve literacy and numeracy skills among youth and adults. 7. Enhance the quality of education and learning outcomes. 8. Promote education for sustainable development and global citizenship. 9. Increase the number of qualified teachers and improve their training and opportunities for growth. 10. Expand education infrastructure and facilities in marginalized communities. For us in WEP these goals aim to ensure that all individuals have access to quality education and lifelong learning opportunities, regardless of their background or circumstances, by the year 2030.
